The assets
Hello everyone! In this new post we’ll talk about the assets we used inside the game, or at least one part of them. So here we go!
The project needed some assets and we squeezed our heads thinking if we want the game to look realistic or more cartoony. After hours of searching we came across some packs made by Synty, and Mr Gaming Bear’s head exploded with imagination. The pack is called POLYGON - Prototype and it includes lots of cool models that can be used, mainly for prototyping, but in our case for creating the levels and the game. Next we needed some weapons and some arms, also low poly of course. For that purpose we used Unity’s Assetstore to find what we needed. Once we had what we wanted, Daniel got super excited and started implementing his magic, the creation of the player with all the logic made by him, a coding machine.
The thing went on and we included more weapons from other packs available on itch, packs that we’ll mention in another post. We needed some buildings and not any buildings, something that could fit the game design, so we got some other packs from Synty, like the POLYGON - City. Our idea was to give a different feeling when playing. We wanted to create something crazy that would attract people’s attention. So, we mixed the prototype pack with the city one. The mixture of both packs has a purpose. The prototype pack is used to create the base where the player starts and the city pack is used to create the environment that would be based on a city-like map, which will match with the story of the game.
Prototype pack
As we mentioned before this pack has been used to create the base where the player starts. As you can see in the picture the starting point is all made of colors, as you all remember and know by now the game’s story is based on paintball so we had to follow the line.
City pack
This pack is the one we use for making the map. Once you get out of your base all the action starts and it’s taking place in a small city map build by us. For testing and prototyping we used Simple Town Pack, also made by Synty. For now the pictures/videos will only feature the Simple pack and the map made with that pack, the other pack and map will be a surprise for now 🤫
Arms and weapons packs
These packs will be better explained in a future post, but for now we’ll only tell you that we got them from different sources, such as Unity Assetstore and/or itch.io.
Vehicles and other assets packs
There are more assets included inside the game, as we went on changing things. But we will show them all to you step by step. So the environment and all the things present in the map will be explained in detail in a different post.
